All variants of Lamborghini Gallardo always had long names, and this new one in no exception! It’s called the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, and in essence it is the Spyder version of the LP570-4 Superleggera. And becasue it’s a Spyder version of an already great car, it must be a very fascinating machine.
Indeed it is! The Performante has a 5.2 liters V10 that generates 419 kW (570 hp). It is much lighter than the standard Spyder LP560, so it is capable of blistering performance: 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and top speed of 324 km/h (201 mph).
The car boasts an aluminum bodyshell with cast node elements and extruded profile forming an extremely stiff framework into which the aluminum panels are integrated. Carbon fiber is also used extensively, for rear spoiler, sills, diffuser, parts of the underbody paneling
and exterior mirror casings, to make the car light. The result is plain to see, The Performante is 65 kilograms (143 lbs) lighter than the Gallardo Spyder.
The LP-570 Performante gets the same E-Gear and four-wheel-drive system, as well as ventilated brake discs that have diameters of 365 and 356 millimeters. It comes with 19-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires size 235/35 at the front and 295/30 at the rear.
The good thing about this car, like other lightened Gallardos, is that you still get most of the equipments you get with the normal car, air condition, optional sat nav, and… The only criticism must be the age of all these stuff, they all belong to at least 8 years ago – that air con unit for example used to be on prehistoric Audis! so considering the price of the car, it’s not right.
The interior is also garnished, heavily, with carbon fiber. The center tunnel cover, the door panels and the surround of the e-gear automated manual transmission lever are all made from carbon. Even the seats have carbon structure. You also get no leather, and have to be satisfied with the suede and Alcantara finish.
Avalable exterior colors include in Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus. There’s no word on the car’s pricing, but as it’s the case, less means more with lightened sportscars, so expect a much fatter price tag then the normal Spyder.
