Hyundai’s naming policy for different markets is getting a bit confusing! I mean the Elantra is also called the Avante, the Grandeur is also called the Azera, and so on and so forth. And then there’s this, the new Verna 5-door. As far as I remember Verna was the other name of the Accent, but now it’s on this car which looks like a facelifted version of the i30 and is exclusive for the Chinese market.
So don’t be surprised if they revealed something quite like this car in Europe as the 2011 i30. The Verna 5-door has addressed the main issue with i30’s design, which was the gopping front-end. It’s not got a more Sonata-like face. The rear-end is pretty much the same as the i30 but it’s like it’s been hit in the head with a giant hammer!
The engines available for this car include a 1.4 and a 1.6 liter petrol with 108 and 124 PS respectively.
