2012 Mercedes SLK leakage saga continues. After the promo video and patent drawings, now a bunch of official pictures have surfaced on the web which actually reveal the car in its details. Now, I’m not sure if it’s the pictures or what, but the new SLK does not seem very nice to me! Hope it’s the pictures…
The new generation Mercedes SLK is obviously gone butch and there’s no sign of feminineness in it any more! But when you compare it to the current SLK, you can’t help but think the new one is ugly. It gets a SLS front grille, a new CLS front bumper, and new and very simple bonnet and headlights which have no interesting feature.
The rear end is where things get even worse. The new taillights are unnecessarily large and again it seems they didn’t put any effort into making them look good! We are now feeling quite worried about the next Mercedes SL.
Apart from the design though, the new SLK is an engineering marvel and gets many new and innovative features, such as a new kind of panoramic roof called the Magic Sky Control. It will also get a range of refined four and six cylinder engines with BlueEfficiency technology for great fuel economy.
The only V8 option will be for SLK55 AMG which according to recent reports will be a naturally aspirated version of the new biturbo V8 found in the new CLS63 and S63, with 420 hp. All models also feature 7 G-Tronic automatic gearbox as standard.
The car is set for debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, so expect official details and performance figures to be announced soon. Meanwhile check out the car’s pictures here, see if you can find an angle that it looks good from!
