I know it sounds like a terrible cliche, but black is back! I’m sure you remember the new black Porsches we’ve featured, and here’s a black Cadillac. It is just a Cadillac CTS-V painted in black, but it costs $4,850 more than a normal CTS-V.
Before you think Cadillac wants to rip you off, we have to point out they do throw in a few extras. For instance it comes with Satin Graphite 19-inch wheels with yellow Brembo brake calipers. These six-piston front, four-piston back brake calipers provide exceptional stopping capabilities.
It also gets Recaro seats that feature 14 adjustable elements, French-stitched leather and microfiber suede inserts in the center sections of the cushions and seatbacks, and Midnight Sapele wood trim known for its durability and distinctive grain. And above all, it’s a special edition. That color is also very special, it’s a dark tri-coat paint embedded with SpectraFlair Bright Silver pigment.
They call it the Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition, and it can be had as coupe, sedan and wagon. It does not feature any form of performance upgrade, so you still get the same supercharged 6.2L V8 engine with 556-horsepower and Magnetic Ride Control suspension. That’s fine by us.
Available from March 2011, the CTS-V Diamond Black prices start from $69,190 for the manual or $70,490 for the automatic.
“The Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is like a finely crafted, tailored tuxedo,” said Michelle Killen, Cadillac exterior paint designer. “The base color may be a simple black, but the details and richness of the material set it apart.”
Black Diamond helps Cadillac meet growing demand by luxury buyers for paints that are set apart not just by their color but also by their special effects.
“Auto makers and consumers are looking to differentiate the color black, an ubiquitous color in automotive,” said John Book, Custom Color Solutions product manager at JDSU. “Black Diamond offers the discerning Cadillac customer a special option color that stands out and remains true to their sense of luxury and style.”
