Subaru has launched a website to promote their new “BOXER Sports Car Architecture”. They will showcase the technology at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show but it’s not likely they also bring along an actual concept sports car.
This technology is actually referred to as “Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept”, so when the car finally arrives it’ll be a RWD and will have a boxer engine mounted at front. That much we can establish for now!
We will probably first see this platform in the Subaru version of the FT-86 sports coupe they’re jointly developing with Toyota, when they eventually put it into mass production. They could also use it in other models, namely the next Impreza. A sporty rear-drive Impreza sounds like fun.
More details about Subaru’s Boxer Sportscar and future models will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
