Latest reports from Maranello suggest that Ferrari 458 Spider will  get a new type of retractable hardtop.

Cloth roof is a thing of past for Ferrari, as all of their new convertibles feature either a folding metal roof like the California or a rotating one like the SuperAmerica. The 458 Spider though, will get a new, more advanced system.

California’s folding top is too heavy for the 458, and the rotating system is, well, too basic! The word is it’ll get either a glass or a metal roof that slides behind the seats. It would be light, and it would look so cool as well.

And don’t worry about the added weight, and the fact that the Spider won’t be as delicate to drive as the Coupe. Don’t be a geek! What you have to think about is how you will be able to hear that V8 soundtrack even more clearly with the top down. and how awesome the car would look. Set for debut at the IAA motorshow in September, the car will get the same V8 as Coupe with 562 bhp.
