Jaguar made it official they are working on a new sports coupe, and it will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in concept form this September.
The car is codenamed the Jaguar C-X16, but it is the base for the upcoming XE sportscar. It slots below the XK, and according to Jaguar, sets new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology.
The C-x16 is done by the same design team who did XJ, XF and XK – headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum, so it’s not going to be an uggo, that’s for sure! It will probably spawn a convertible version as well. No details on the technicalities yet.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars commented: ‘Great Jaguars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future. The finished C-X16 concept has the potential to do these things while retaining the ability to surprise, to excite and invigorate.’
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented: ‘Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future. This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life – I look forward to sharing this latest, exciting step at the Frankfurt Motor Show.’
