Rumors about a new mid-engined supercar by Porsche have been circulating around ever since Ferrari launched the 458. Here’s some new details and illustrations.
This time AutoExpress confirms for us that this new Porsche, allegedly called the 961, slots between the 911 and the yet to be launched 918 hyper car, and will launch in 2014. The 961 is said to be powered by a specially tuned turbocharged version of the 3.4 liter V8 from the 918 Spyder, minus the hybrid bits.
The power figure will be something in the neighborhood of 600 bhp, which in combination with the lightweight carbon and aluminum body and structure, gives the car a three-second 0 to 60 time and a top speed of over 220 mph.
The price has also been revealed, so brace yourselves! It’s £350,000 minimum!
