Toyota Already Working On Supercharged GT86

Toyota GT 861 at Toyota Already Working On Supercharged GT86

Toyota quickly, almost too quickly, realized that 197bhp is not really enough for a car as good-looking and as well-balanced as the 86.

So they’re going to address the issue by launching a hotted-up supercharged version of the car. The job of making the supercharged 86 has been given to Toyota Racing Development and they’ve already dispatched test mules on the road.

Toyota has gone for a supercharger instead of a turbocharger because it’s simpler to make and also more exciting than turbo! Toyota is adamant the supercharged 86 must be even more fun that the standard car.

That said, they are apparently going to give it only 50 more horsepower. That’s better than just 200, but still not something to brag about. TRD is also working on the car’s suspension and brakes to make sure they cope with the extra power.
