Fisker Karma, the most sophisticated and luxurious EV around, has been recalled over fire hazard.
According to NHTSA investigations, there’s some defects in the Karma’s high-voltage battery system. Apparently some of the hose clamps are positioned incorrectly. These loose clamps may result in coolant leak. It then can start a fire if it enters the battery compartment.
Fisker believes 239 units are affected with the issue.
They will be notifying the owners, most of them high-rollers such as Leo DiCaprio, to come and have their car fixed before anything nasty happens. The fix is easy and dealers will replace the clamps with proper ones at no cost to customers.
Is this yet another proof that electric motor is not yet fully ready to take over from internal combustion?
