This is Hyundai’s latest concept car, called the i-oniq, set for debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.
Unlike Toyota whose concepts are always an evolution of the previous models, Hyundai likes to try something completely new each time. And they don’t waste money on concepts that can’t be made, so what you see here is potentially a future production model.
The i-oniq is three-door hatchback car which measures 4.4-meters in length, and is powered by a range-extended electric drivetrain consisting of a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that powers a generator that feeds the batteries of an electric motor, which eventually makes 108bhp.
As with all concept cars, the i-oniq has a lavishly equipped futuristic cabin with lounge-like interior space and amazing materials.
More details will be revealed at the big show.
