After some teasers here, and some more here, Mopar finally revealed all six concept cars of this year’s Moab Easter Jeep Safari in the flesh. Traditionally, Jeep turns up t the Moab event each year with a couple of concept cars showing what’s new to the fans. Five of these cars are based on the Wrangler, and one based on the Cherokee.
It will also add some spice to the rambling event, which will be attended by thousands of die-hard off-road enthusiasts looking to enjoy a week of wheeling on some of the country’s most renowned and challenging trails. Mopar will also announce launch of its special off-road division that will create Jeep Authentic Parts and Accessories.
Let’s cut to the chase and meet this year’s concepts:
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Concept: This is the only proper family SUV of the group, which has been upgraded by Mopar experts for extra off-road capability. It gets fancy hydraulic suspension and chunky off-road tires and 4×4 systems. The looks are not that good though, with that black hood and red grille. It looks like a polar bear.
2012 Jeep Wrangler Apache: The Apache is our favorite of the bunch, not just because of its awesome appearance, also because it’s powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine conversion kit specifically for the Jeep Wrangler, producing approximately 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also jacked up on big wheels and off-road suspension.
Jeep Mighty FC Concept: This concept is what we imagine they would use to ferry mountain troops around in battlefields! Kinda inspired by the Unimog, the FC Mighty highlights include King coil-over reservoir shocks, Hanson bumpers, a Warn 16.5 winch and a Corsa stainless steel exhaust system. The car’s got 40-inch tires mounted on custom Hutchinson 17-inch beadlock wheels.
Jeep J-12 Concept: The retro-looking concept is an extended version of Mopar’s recently introduced JK-8 pickup conversion kit for the Jeep Wrangler. A custom hood and front fender set was created as a nod to aficionados of the beloved Jeep Gladiator series trucks. Further highlights include a Mopar fuel-filler door, Mopar slush mats, Tom Woods custom driveshafts and Katzkin seat trim.
Mopar Accessorized 2012 Jeep Wrangler: This one is designed to showcase many of the options available by Mopar for the Wrangler such as two-inch performance lift kit, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires mounted on Classic five-hole wheels, front and rear off-road bumpers, a Warn 9.5ti XP winch, Mopar rock rails, Kicker dash 6.5-inch two-way speakers, Mopar all-weather mats and more.
2012 Jeep Wrangler Traildozer: Finally we have this amazing car, the Traildozer which features 470 horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine mated to a Getrag 238 six-speed manual transmission. Power runs through Rubicon-specific Dana 44 axles equipped with 4:10 gears and electronic locking differentials. To clear the 37-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials mounted on Mopar Classic five-spoke wheels, an AEV Dualsport RS 3.5-inch suspension lift was installed.
