Subaru XV Crosstrek at Subaru XV Crosstrek Announced For New York Debut

At the upcoming New York Motor Show Subaru will unveil that American version of the new XV, called the XV Crosstrek. Apart from the cool name, the car is the same as the XV people everywhere else in the world get. It’s tough and capable crossover, it’s very reliable, never goes wrong, and is very affordable. On the downside, it’s not exactly a looker.

The 2.0 liter Horizontally-Opposed Boxer engine mated to a Lineartronic (CVT) transmission is also not very gutsy, but then Subaru says its averages 33 mpg, making the Crosstrek  the most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive crossover vehicle in the US. That is Subaru’s data though, official EPA ratings are usually a few mpgs lower than what the factory claims.

Two grades, “Premium” and “Limited”, will be available in the US. The “Limited” model employs comprehensive infotainment equipments such as the multi-function navigation system with a 6.1-inch touch screen display.

If you can live with the way it looks, which is not bad but not good either, the XV is a good little car.
