Just as the first batch of Scion FR-S make their way to the American dealerships, Japanese car maker released more details and new pictures of its eagerly awaited sports car. Incidentally, these are the best pictures of the FR-S they’re released to date, apparently they kept the best for the last minute to create hype for the car’s launch. Scion’s halo car prices start at $24,200 when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and $25,300 when equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission that features paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management technology. Watch out Nissan 370.
The FR-S, which stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport; the car has a low center of gravity thanks to its advanced platform and also the Subaru boxer engine buried deep inside the car somewhere behind the front axle.
The engine is a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder, featuring D-4S injection system, developing 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.
The FR-S comes with Electronic Power Steering with a sporty 13:1 steering ratio. Lightweight 17×7-inch alloy wheels and ventilated disc brakes are standard on all four corners.
Other useful features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) can be set in combination of five configurations.
The FR-S will be available in seven colors including Raven, Asphalt, Hot Lava, Argento, Ultramarine, Firestorm and Whiteout.
The FR-S’s interior includes a 2+2 seating configuration that is designed with both form and function in mind. The seats too have a low seating position for added sporty feel.
The FR-S features a performance-oriented, 365-millimeter diameter, leather-trimmed steering wheel that has both tilt and telescopic adjustment.
