Land Rover is celebrating its 25th U.S. anniversary at this year’s New York Auto Show. Part of the celebration plan is releasing new special edition models such as this, the LR4 Discovery Luxury Special Edition. The car is a normal LR4 garnished with cues from the Range Rover. It’s like a good old farmer dressed in an Armani suit and lots of jewelry.
The car comes exclusively in Santorini Black with bright silver detailing Noble plated door mirror caps and Titan Silver bonnet script and tailgate badge. The whole car is dominated by the new front grille which is just plain vulgar. That and fender vents also feature Indus Silver surround and body-color vanes.
Further designer touches include a bright, stainless steel bumper tread strip and a unique bright metal badge showcasing ‘HSE LUXURY’. Door handles are in body colour and the exterior is finished off with a set of 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the car features premium Ebony or Ivory leather, plus Windsor Leather Pack to the fascia top, instrument panel binnacle, door top rolls, armrests and pull. The interior detailing is complete with a new Dark Zebrano veneer and twist pile luxury carpet mats with contrasting edging. There’s also a top-notch DVD-based entertainment system for your, well, entertainment.
The Discovery 4 HSE Luxury Edition is based on the diesel model, powered by a 256PS SDV6 diesel engine with a 0-60mph time of 8.8 seconds and top speed of 112mph (180kph). The limited LR4 goes on sale in the UK from July 2012 with prices starting at £56,995.
