Members of the FT86 club published the first pictures of the roadster version of Scion FR-S – and essentially Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ – which Scion quietly unveiled in California. Looking like something out of a Need For Speed game, the FR-S roadster is a concept for now, but we do know there’s a drop-top 86 in the works.
So it’s only a matter of time before it gets official. Mind you, the production version won’t have in a million years windows like this and a spoiler like that. It would be far more sensible. This is more a show car for Scion to create hype for the FR-S coupe in America.
We keep you posted if Scion, Toyota or Subaru started talking about the subject.
UPDATE: Turns out it’s a custom-made FR-S Speedster by Cartel Customs. So it’s a tuning job and Scion and Toyota have very little to do with it. Still, that doesn’t mean there’s not a drop-top FR-S coming.
