The finest tuning package yet for the Toyota GT86 comes from Toyota’s own Gazoo Racing. They have developed a bespoke twin-turbo system for the car’s four-cylinder boxer engine that increases it output from the frankly pathetic 200 hp, to a more exciting 320 hp. This is what the standard GT86 should have been like.
The system also result in 310 lb-ft of torque, and that will guarantee you don’t need to use the handbrake to make the car slide in your promo films! The standard engine is not powerful enough to upset the rear wheels on its own. You have to poke them with a stick.
Apart from the engine treatment, Gazoo has also come up with a nice body kit for the 86. It’s a bit too Japanese for our taste, but the new aggressive bumper, the modified bonnet, side skirts, flared arches, the big rear wing and the new rear apron with four tailpipes, they all look very sporty and cool.
Sadly it’s only a concept car for now. But it could be a sign that Toyota is working on high performance version of the 86. We know a Subaru BRZ Turbo is in the pipeline.
