Back in March pictures and videos of a unique coachbuilt Ferrari at a London dealership hit the internet. It didn’t take long for journalists to confirm it was a one-off project based on the Ferrari 458 Italia, commissioned by world-famous British musician Eric Clapton. We didn’t hear much about the car after it left the dealership, until now. Mr.Clapton agreed to share some of his thoughts on the car with Ferrari Magazine.
The renowned guitarist is a massive Ferrari enthusiast, but there’s one particular model he’s very fond of, and that’s the 512 BB. He owns three of them, but apparently that’s not enough. That is why his one-off 458 takes its inspirations from the aforementioned model.
The car, designed jointly by Ferrari and Pininfarina, mixes the 512’s legendary styling cues, with the beautiful lines of the 458, The end result is a car as wonderful and as unique Clapton’s guitar solos.
Clapton describes the project as “being in front of a gigantic blank canvas that had to be painted on” and that being involved with the birth and development of the car was “an incredible experience, one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done”.
