The legend of the Prancing Horse was born in Romagna. Francesco Baracca, the heroic fighter pilot from the First World War from Lugo, had a Prancing Horse Prima painted on his plan. The mother of the pilot, Countess Paolina, offered Enzo Ferrari to use the Prancing Horse as his emblem, telling him that it would bring him luck. This was the birth of the modern Prancing Horse on a yellow ground, the colour of Modena, and the colours of the Italian flag, as the symbol of the Scuderia Ferrari.
