So the first tuning package for the new Porsche Boxster comes from speedART, and it’s not a good one. Called the SP81-R, the car gets a big body kit the Boxster doesn’t need, a two-tone paint job the Boxster doesn’t need, and a few more horsepower. Okay, the Boxster needs that. Apart from the engine tuning, everything they’ve done has made the car less attractive than before.
And that begs the question, what is the point tuning packages like this? To ruin a good car?
For those who are interested, speedART’s Boxster gets a front spoiler lip, new side skirt, a new diffuser at the back with twin central exhausts, and a fixed rear wing. They have also fitted it with a set of LSC forged alloy wheels, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear.
Upon request, sppedARTcan also hook you up with adjustable suspension and lift systems, which means the Porsche’s handling will be ruined as well. The only plus point in this program is the ECU tweak for the Boxster S engine that gives an extra 20 PS and 20 Nm of torque.
