Chief geek, Mr. Microsoft Bill Gates might not count as a proper celebrity, but his endorsement is still valued big time. This nice little ’79 Porsche 911 Turbo used to belong to Billy, and it went under the hammer expecting to fetch to between $48,495 and $62,173. But turns out there’s someone out there who likes his Windows very much and is willing to pay 80 large to own a piece of Gates lifestyle.

The auction took place in Austria, but the car went to a German bidder who won it over the phone. For his 80 grand, this fella gets Bill Gates’ car, a good-looking classic 911, and a fast sports car. It’s more of a museum piece though, what with its age and social statue. This 300 horsepower monster is an absolute bugger to drive. It belongs to that generation of the 911s famous for having notorious handling. So, good luck with your purchase sir!
