Opel/Vauxhall announced an upgrade program for the Astra range, with tweaked styling and a new BiTurbo diesel engine for the GTC version, borrowed from the Insignia. The new looks of the of the Astra Hatch and Sports Tourer are designed to make them look more aggressive with a new front grille, new indicator lamps and a new design of fog lamp, as well as a refreshed rear panel with new chrome lower moulding.
Despite the upgrade in design, pricing remains the same as before for these Astras.
The more interesting new offer by Opel however, is the new GTC 2.0 CDTi BiTurbo. It is the most powerful non-OPC/VXR version in the range with 195PS and 400Nm of torque. Featuring start/stop as standard, the car goes from 0 to 60 in 7.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 139mph, while averaging 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
Pricing for the GTC BiTurbo starts at £23,925 which shows a premium of £995 over the GTC 2.0 CDTi 165PS model. But then it comes with bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels, Electronic Climate Control, 6mm lower ride-height, a new body-kit and ‘Track’ interior trim, with a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel.
