As promised Jaguar brought the new F-Type sports car to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and let it loose on the hill for the visitors to see it, and hear it, in action. Sadly it’s a prototype version of the car, and fully camouflaged. So we don’t get to see how the car looks, but it gives a clue about the size and proportions. The all-aluminum Jaguar F-Type at Goodwood is powered by a supercharged V6.
The car was driven for the first time by Jaguar’s Head of Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross, immediately after C-type, D-type and E-type models, the car that inspired it. The V6 engine in this car is rated at 370 horsepower, and a less powerful (340 hp) version of it will be used in the latest versions of the XF and Xj saloons. Aside the V6, there will also be a supercharged V8 option for the performance-minded customers.
Said Mike: “The F-TYPE will deliver a driver-focused sports car experience, and camouflaged prototypes like this one are currently being tested all over the world. The development programme is right on schedule, and coming here today to showcase just a little of the dynamic precision, noise, speed and excitement that the production F-TYPE will exhibit is very satisfying. The reaction of the crowd has been fantastic – I’d like to keep running it up the hill all day!”
