The new Aston Martin Vanquish is revealed in its full glory, putting the DBS to bed and bringing back one of the coolest nameplates in the world. The new Vanquish, or the AM310 as Aston calls it, is in the same size and shape as the DBS, but it gets a fresh new look which is heavily inspired by the One-77 hyper car. But it doesn’t cost a million quid. It has a base price of only £189,995. What a bargain!
Compared to the DBS, the Vanquish features a more aggressive design with a new vented bonnet, large headlamps which appear to be modeled on those of the Rapide, a smaller grille, and a very sporty front bumper. Side profile is where you begin to notice the One-77 influence, what with that fabulous curves on the car’s hips, the new side vents, side skirts, and the chrome stripe surrounding the windows.
Around at the back there’s new taillights, borrowed directly from the One-77 and a new Aero Duct on the rear boot lid. The diffuser and the exhausts layout are also different over the DBS.
Powering the Vanquish is the same 6.0 liter V12 found in the DBS and the DB9. In the new car it’s tweaked to make 573 PS at 6,750 rpm, 620 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. That results in bold performance figures: 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.
The Vanquish is also easier to live with than the DBS. It has a new dashboard with bigger buttons and better ergonomic. Practical improvements such as a newly designed and significantly more spacious cabin and a boot that, at 368 litres, is more than 60% larger than that of the DBS, ensure the new Vanquish can carry sufficient luggage for an around the world trip, so it would have no problem carrying your golf clubs.
