Aston Martin Virage Dropped In The Wake Of New DB9

Aston Martin Virage at Aston Martin Virage Dropped In The Wake Of New DB9

News broke that Aston Martin is discontinuing the Virge, eighteen months after it was launched. Now we understand why the new DB9 is going to look so similar to the Virage. It is basically an updated Virage. So Aston Martin is finally admitting the original Virage didn’t make much sense.

The car was supposed to fill the gap between the soft and cuddly DB9, and the sporty and edgy DBS. But it was hard to see why one would pay extra for it, when for less they can get the DB9, which is basically the same thing but with smaller headlights.

To be honest we don’t care about the Virage, we never did. But this whole thing means the new DB9 will have nothing new to offer, and that’s kinda sad. Well, there is an all-new version coming in a few years time, but until then, it’s going to be a rebadged Virage. Not that it’s a bad thing, but we were expecting the DB9 to get the same sort of treatment as the DBS did with the new Vanquish.

This could also mean that Aston is going to bump the price of the DB9. It will no longer be a 120 grand car, but rather 150, as the Virage was.
