Editors of American magazine Motor Trend have been away for a few days, driving a collection of the finest sports car currently available in the market, to choose their 2012 Best Driver’s Car. The lineup includes nine different cars from nine different car makers. But they all have one thing in common: they are built primarily for driving fun.
And the winner is: Porsche 911 (991) Carrera S.
MT’s judges put the cars through dynamic tests, a 500-mile road trip, hard canyon driving on a closed course and finally, evaluation at the hands of professional driver Randy Pobst at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. At the end it was the 991 the impressed the most.
Here’s a 36-minute long video from the event. It is totally unmissable:
“‘Best Driver’s Car’ is the highest honor Motor Trend gives to a performance vehicle, which is the main reason it is so coveted across the industry,” said Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. “Congratulations to Porsche and its 911 Carrera S for beating out such a diverse, yet uniformly excellent field this year.”
