Yes, finally the all-new, all-brilliant Jaguar F-Type gets official as the British company takes the wraps off it at Musée Rodin Museumin Paris and releases all its details. The amazing new sports roadster come in three F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S guises, which means there’s still room for an F-Type R version in the future.
The presented models, which are available to order from this moment, are plenty fast though. They come with with either a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 – rated at 340PS and 380PS in normal and S version respectively – or a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol producing 495PS. All engines are connected to a close-ratio eight-speed Quickshift transmission.
Every part of the Jaguar F-type is full of amazing details; from the retractable spoiler at the back, to the deplorable door handles, and the rear-end design that hints at the legendary E-Type.
To make the driving experience more engaging the S and V8 models also feature a specially-tuned active exhaust system for an exhilarating soundtrack.
Power and speed is only part of the equation though. The F-Type also looks bite the back of your hand beautiful. It has a fantastic cabin designed with fighter jets in mind to be as ergonomic for the driver as possible. This car is made purely for driving fun. It makes even going to the shops for a pint of milk fun!
Performance:
In terms of performance, the 495PS and 625Nm of torque V8 model is the fastest with a 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) time of 4.2 seconds and top speed of 186mph (300km/h) while emitting 259g/km of CO2. The 380PS V6 F-Type S covers the 0-60mph sprint in 4.8 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds) and has an electronically limited top speed of 171mph (275km/h), with CO2 emissions of 213g/km. The 340PS V6 F-Type is the most economical, but even so, it can do 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and reach 161mph (260km/h).
Price:
The Jaguar F-Type is a fantastically desirable car. It’s great to see that car makers still care about making stuff that are fun. It’s not a cheap sports car, but it’s certianly worth all the money. Prices start at £58,500 for the base V6 model, while the F-Type S runs for £67,500 and the F-Type V8 S for £79,950. The car goes on sale next year as a 2014 model.
