Celebrating 40 years of RennSport (RS) models, Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone launched three new RS-inspired driving courses. They include GT, Evolution, and Ultimate GT, each giving you access to a range of awesome RS Porsches, and including heavy on-track action.

The GT Course (£400) will put you behind the wheels of the naturally-aspirated 911 GT3 and the bi-turbo 911 GT2. The Evolution RS (£500) course concentrates on the latest incarnations of the 911 GT3 RS, plus a 90-minute drive in the  ‘Type 997’ 3.6-litre 911 GT3 RS from 2006, the second generation ‘Type 997’ 3.8 911 GT3 RS from 2009, and the modern 2011 911 GT3 RS 4.0. The Ultimate GT (£550) includes initiation with the GT2, before unleashing the 620 hp Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

The story of the RS began with the 1972 911 2.7 Carrera RS, derived from the 911 S. It was a raw, performance-minded version of the 911, limited to 1,500 units, and featuring exclusive visual and performance tweaks. It was a bit – well, a lot – twitchy to handle, but that was part of its appeal. It was dangerously exciting!
