You are definitely familiar the way Porsche 918 Spyder looks, because well, it is pretty much identical to the concept car you’ve seen on a number of occasions. Still, the final production version may have a few different details. Changes are inevitable, as Porsche engineers are currently testing and refining the car.
That said, they must be in the final phases of testing and the car must be heading into production soon. These leaked computer-generated images, which are official photos submitted by Porsche to the trademark office, show the car in its final production guise. It retains most of the fancy elements of the concept version such as the open engine bay and unique exhaust pipes. Not sure about the roof arrangement yet, but it almost certainly has a removable hard top.
Technical details are not likely to change in the finished product. The Porsche 918 is powered by a hybrid system consisting of a V8 petrol engine from the RS Spyder racing car, and three electric motors. Total output is around 800 horsepower, which gives the car a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 320 km/h. It is also said to be capable of 70 mpg, which is a bold claim.
