As the new Porsche 911 (991) GT3 makes its American debut at the New York Auto Show, the German sports car maker reveals its official pricing in the U.S. market. This beautiful track-ready sports car will start from $130,400 when it goes on sale in late 2013.
Now, 130 grand is a large amount of money, but the new GT3 offers such high level of technology and performance and sophistication that it actually sounds like a bargain. You get a 3.8 liter flat-six hanging off the bottom end of the car, sending its 475 horsepower output to the rear wheels via bespoke PDK transmission.
This gearbox is the highlight of the new 911 GT3 and it is as tricksy as paddle shifters currently get. Those paddles will enable you to simulate everything you’d do with a manual, only they are much quicker. Still, purist are disappointing that Porsche doesn’t offer a manual option.
The GT3 is a helluva performer, with a 0 to 60 time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h. We wonder how much quicker the GT3 RS, and after that the GT2, are going to be.
