Now that the dust has settled on the new Porsche 911 GT3, it’s time to start speculating about the next big thing, the GT3 RS. In a recent interview with CAR, head of Porsche GT production Andreas Preuninger confirmed that the car is on track fro 2014, and that it will be PDK only.

So if you want a 911 with manual gearbox, you can only choose between the Carrera models. We realize that the PDK is faster and maybe even nicer to use than the manual, but still, ditching it all together is not fair.

The steering will remain electric too, but Preuninger promises that it will be just as good as the steering in the 997 GT3 RS 4.0. The combination of the electric steering and the real-wheel steering is said to be capable of delivering a satisfying experience. Well, nobody has driven the new GT3 yet, so we can’t say if it’s good or bad news that the RS will be getting it too.

The RS will differ from the standard GT3 in terms of lightness, aerodynamics, and suspension. That’s what makes it a full-on track weapon. As for the power, expect close to 500 horsepower.
