In an effort to make the new ZOE electric vehicle more appealing, Renault announced that with every ZOE delivered in the UK they offer a free domestic charging point. Called the Single Wall-box, the charger is supplied and installed by Renault’s partner British Gas. It is available for both new purchases as well as pre-ordered ones.
Renault says this offer saves customers up to £500 in addition to the up to £5000 they’ve already saved thanks to the government grant. This makes the ZOE – priced from £13,650 to £14,750 depending on trim level – a direct rival for the similarly-sized diesel-powered superminis. But it is zero-emission, of course.
The 32 amp (7kW) ZE ready Single Wall-box will be installed by British Gas at the customer’s house one month before delivery of the vehicle. It recharges the ZOE’s batteries from completely flat to fully charged in just three and a half hours. If you are in a rush, the public Rapid-Charger 43kW power sources can charge it up to 80 percent in 30 minutes.
Renault ZOE has a range of 90 miles (60 miles in cold weather) on a full charge.
