Triple Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel may not be happy with his teammate in Red Bull Infiniti F1 team, but he’s enjoying his relationship with the Japanese car maker more than ever. He started out starring in their commercials back in 2011, then they made a Vetttel Edition FX, and now the German becomes the official Director of Performance at Infiniti.
As the Director of Performance, Vettel will be actively involved in testing and fine tuning new Infiniti models, providing the engineers with his world-class chassis dynamics, performance and handling feedback. Vettel has been a part of the new Q50’s test team, and will become involved in the development of more future Infiniti vehicles.
Not sure how a world-class F1 champ is going to find time to test family saloons, but we guess as long as Infiniti can use his name in their press releases, they’ll be happy. And Vettel will be happy as long as those fat checks keep coming in.
“I am really happy to extend my relationship with Infiniti and become their Director of Performance,” said Sebastian Vettel. “Helping to develop the Infiniti Q50 was a very different type of driving duty for me but I approached it in exactly the same way as I do my Formula One car. I am looking forward to working closely with Infiniti in developing more of their road cars into the future.”
