This is Acura’s highly anticipated crossover SUV concept teased a few weeks ago for the Shanghai Auto Show debut. It is simply called the SUV-X, and like everything else at the Shanghai show, it is designed with Chinese standards in mind.
The X is not the best-looking SUV ever, but compared to Acura’s current utility vehicles, it is actually not bad. The car features a lot of curves and twists in its design, which is a welcome change, but retain Acura’s traditional cues like the large grille and shape of the head and taillights.
In describing what they’ve come up with here, Acura says “Emotional and sharp styling and driving performance, together with the environmental performance of a small vehicle and excellent utility of an SUV are all fused together at a high level in this vehicle.”
A production version of the Concept SUV-X will go into production in China in about three years time.
