These shoddy pictures are said to be the first leaked shots of what Bugatti teased yesterday as “the latest example of exceptional Bugatti performance.” It is called the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Convertible (WRC), and it celebrates the car’s tittle as the fastest convertible in the world.
So Bugatti probably knew that Guinness was going to strip it off the world fastest production car title, and came up with this to compensate for that loss. The Vitesse has set a top speed of 408.884 km/h (254.069 mph) to become the world’s fastest drop-top, and that record is still intact.
The Vitesse, as you know, is a convertible version of the Veyron SuperSport, powered by the same 1,200 horsepower W16, quad-turbo engine. The World Record Convertible will probably be identical to the standard model in terms of performance, but visually it gets a new paint job and probably some new wheels.
So not exactly what we were hoping to see, but still, just the fact that they keep making this monster in spite of all that is wrong with the world these days is a cause for celebration.
