Back in March Peugeot officially confirmed their return to the Pikes Peak international hill climb challenge with a purpose-built 208 T16 race car. Now they release the first pictures of the car, and boy does it look mean.
These pictures are actually more of a teaser and don’t reveal the whole thing, but you notice the bespoke carbon fiber body with massively large fenders, a humongous rear wing, a functioning roof scoop, and other aero parts typical of Pikes Peak race cars.
Our favorite part is the cockpit which has more scaffolding than a half-built skyscraper. It kind of needs that massive roll cage, partly because of the power of T16 – something like 600 horsepower – and the fact that it is still a small hatchback, and partly due to the nature of the race which is a high speed hill climb. Each year a couple of participants fall off the cliff, making spectacular Youtube videos on the way down!
Peugeot 206 T16 will be driven up the Pikes Peak hill by Sébastien Loeb.
