The next big thing to come out of Porsche’s factory, now that the 991 Turbo has been unveiled, is the GT2 version. For those of you who cannot fathom the Porsche 911 range, the GT2 to the Turbo is like the GT3 to the Carrera. It is a hard-core, rear-drive version of the 911 Turbo with more focus on performance than convenience.
According to the latest reports, the 991 GT2 will boast the same 3.8 liter twin-turbo flat-six engine as the 991 Turbo S, developing 560 horsepower. The GT2 is lighter than the Turbo, and therefore slightly faster. Zero to 100 km/h is said to take only 3 seconds in this car, and the top speed is on the right side of 320 km/h.
As with all the other new, high-performance 91 models, the GT2 will be PDK only. It’s a tailor-made, performance-minded dual-clutch transmission, which Porsche maintains is more fun than a proper manual.
The new Porsche 911 GT2 will be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and will be followed by an insane RS version in 2015.
