Ford takes the wraps off a new version of the F-150 pickup truck called the Tremor. They call it a sports truck, powered by the firm’s brilliant 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine. This V6 unit delivers the power of a V8 with the economy of a six-cylinder. But that is not the only sporty feature of this truck.
The F-150 Tremor features an electronic locking rear differential available for both two and four-wheel-drive versions, and a launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle – the shortest ever offered in an F-150 – which gives the vehicle better acceleration. It also exclusively comes in short-wheelbase, regular-cab format.
There are visual clues too hinting at the car’s sporty character. It has the FX appearance package, with stealthy, flat-black accents, that include unique 20-inch flat-black wheels, stylized bodyside graphics and black badges with red lettering. Interior features include bucket seats, black leather seating surfaces with red piping, brushed-metal accents and a red-stitched steering wheel, and Alcantara seat inserts.
As for the power, the V6 EcoBoost in the Tremor makes 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, 90 percent of which is available from 1,700 rpm. Performance numbers, and pricing, are yet to be revealed, but the acceleration should be pretty brisk, what with that kind of power, that trick differential and four-wheel-drive.
