Bugatti announced the launch of a new series limited edition models based on the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, more specifically the Vitesse World Record Car. There will be six “Legend” edition models, each limited to three units, paying homage to six important names associated with Bugatti.

This is the first one, the Vitesse Jean-Pierre Wimille edition. Wimille is definitely worthy of a special edition Veyron, as he achieved two victories for Bugatti at Le Mans; first in 1937, driving a Bugatti 57G Tank, and then in 1939 in a 57C Tank.

The 1937 blue 57G Tank was in fact the inspiration for the design of this special Veyron Vitesse, which is finished in in blue clear-coated carbon fibre and a light Wimille Bleu paintwork finish. The same theme is applied to the interior, with details reflecting the essential characteristics of the classic models. The fact that blue is also the official racing color for France makes the whole thing more special.

Technically, the Legend edition models are the same as the standard Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse boasting n eight-liter W16 engine delivering 1,200 PS; a torque of 1,500 Nm; and a top speed of 408,84 km/h (253 mph).

The Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille Edition will make its public debut at the Pebble Beach Concourse.
