The Thunderbirds Edition is a one-off version of the 2014 Ford Mustang (VIN 0001) featuring a unique livery inspired by 60th anniversary of acclaimed U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. It will be auctioned off Aug. 1 at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh with all proceeds going to the Young Eagles organization.
This one of a kind Mustang boasts the same glossy red, white and blue paint scheme as featured on the F-16 Falcons used by the Thunderbirds, who are the fastest, multi-jet flight demonstration team in the world. the car also rocks a TS Designs wide body kit and custom 22-inch wheels, as well as F16 markings and logos.
Inside the cabin, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Ford Mustang GT has a modified navigation screen and instrument cluster. While the rear seats are deleted, the Recaros up front get embroidered Thunderbirds elements. Additional features include unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft silhouette when the doors open.
The Young Eagles is an Air Force motivational and recruitment program that has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992. They encourage young people to become engineers, aviators, astronauts, scientists and innovators – the aviation pioneers of tomorrow.
