Jaguar has a lot of interesting cars to display at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, including a couple of different versions of the F-Type, but the best part of their show was the dynamic debut of the C-X75 hyper car. They say they are not going make it, but it is so obvious that they want to. Badly!
For the first time in front of public eyes the C-X75 showed the immense power of its ultra-sophisticated hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.6-litre, supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a couple of electric motors, with a total output of more than 850 horsepower.
As a showcase of its capabilities, the C-X75 made its way to the starting line in silent electric-mode before firing up its petrol engine.
Sadly, Jaguar is quick to reiterate that they are not putting this amazing car into production, but they promise that the great achievements in the development of C-X75 prototypes – including cutting-edge hybrid technologies, carbon composite materials and advanced design solutions pioneered in association with Williams Advanced Engineering – will be utilised in other areas of research and development, innovative future products and next-generation engineering for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. It’s a shame really. We would love to see this hyper Jag take on the new offerings fro Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren.
Jaguar’s lineup at this years GFoS also included the XJR, XFR-S, XKR-S GT and Jaguar Project 7; a unique design study based on the F-TYPE.
