The new version of Porsche’s four-door Gran Turismo sports saloon, the Panamera, will make its UK public debut during this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Those who were expecting a big visual change are going to be disappointed, but engineering-wise the car is so good you’d forgive Porsche for lack of style.
There is a new hybrid version that is particularly brilliant. The Panamera S E-Hybrid promises unbelievable performance and economy numbers. Looks like Porsche’s effort in developing the 918 hybrid super car are already showing great results in their normal production models.
The Hybrid Panamera offer 416 hp of combined power, 0-62 mph in 5.5 second, and average fuel economy 91 mpg with emissions of 71 g/km CO2. It’s a plug-in hybrid, which also provides 22 miles (36 km) of pure electric drive. Thanks to the 95 hp (70 kW) output of the electric motor, you can reach a top speed of 84 mph in the zero-emission mode.
There is also a new twin-turbo V6 engine that replaces the old V8 engine in the Panamera S models, delivering 20 hp more power and a further 20 Newton metres of torque, combined with up to 18 per cent better fuel economy. All models except for the hybrid and diesel come with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung PDK dual-clutch transmission as standard.
