Porsche announced the arrival of the Porsche 918 hyper car at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours in Monterey by tweeting a picture of their engineers having a blast in it under the Californian sun. Apparently, every version of the 918 we’ve seen so far has been a prototype, and this is the “latest” production version.

So that must mean that the “final” production version might be different than car at PBC. Still, it is hard to spot those differences, at least in terms of visual features. This is definitely the final look of the 918, which will come with a removable hardtop. If any changes are going to be made, they will be all technical.

The Porsche 918 is powered by what’s possibly the most sophisticated of the new generation of high-performance hybrids. It is not as powerful as the ones in the new LaFerrari and McLaren P1, but it is are more economical. And when you compare it that power to MPG ratio to its rivals, the 918 makes more sense, which is natural since the car is German!

The very final version of the Porsche 918 must show itself t the upcoming IAA event in Frankfurt because production is set to begin in 2014.
