Project 7, as you may know, is a one-off version of the Jaguar F-Type V8S built to represent the firm in style at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Or that’s what Jaguar says. There is more to the Project 7 than just a show car. This car hints at what we can expect from the inevitable F-Type R-S.
To investigate this, Autocar arranged for their man Matt Prior to check out the car in person and take it out for a spin on the track. Sadly, the rain shortened the track time, but Matt still managed to bring us a good video of the Project 7 as souvenir:
Apart from the fancy speedster body that harks back to the D-Type of the 1950’s, the technical bits of the Project 7 are all production units. It is powered by the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine in 550PS/680Nm form you find in the XKR-S and Jaguar’s eight-speed Quickshift transmission and electronic active differential. This means Jaguar has already decided on the specs of the F-Type R-S, and it’s only a matter of time before it is released.
