IAA 2013: Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Q

Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Q 1 600x400 at IAA 2013: Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Q

Aston Martin does not have an all-new model to show at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, but that doesn’t matter, because their ‘old’ cars are still a lot more interesting than most people’s brand-spanking new models. That said, they did bring a long a special ‘Q’ version of the Vanquish Volante, which is sort of new.

‘Q by Aston Martin’ for those who may not know, is the firm’s bespoke personalisation service that allows customers, whose wallet is fat enough not to budge after taking a massive hit, to personalize their Astons with special colors, interior trims, and even accessories.

In the case of the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Q, the treatment is rather subtle, but boy is it effective in melting your heart and soul in one go. The beautiful drop-top features a unique Red Ember paint finish; bronze metallic leather; Gulf Orange painted front and rear splitters and gloss black waist rail finisher.

Those combined with the natural beauty of the Vanquish results in a spectacularly good-looking object. If the standard Vanquish Volante is Scarlett Johansson, then the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Q is Scarlett Johansson in Under The Skin; same, but somehow more seductive.

Vanquish Volante boasts the same new AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine as the coupe and the same blistering performance figures, meaning the 0-60 mph sprint is despatched in just 4.1 seconds (0-62 mph in 4.3 seconds) while the top speed stands at 183 mph.
