Bentley Continental GT V8 S 600x400 at IAA 2013: Bentley Continental GT V8 S

That’s right, it’s yet another variant of the Conti GT. The new Bentley Continental GT V8 S, unveiled in Frankfurt, is the sportiest version of the car this side of the GT Speed. It has got the V8 engine rather than the W12, and it’s kind of tauter and more precise than its fat cousins.

The V8 S is still pretty chubby itself, but with an enormous 521 bhp (528 PS / 389 KW) and 680 Nm (502 lb.ft) of torque, it can get out of its own pay pretty good. What;s more, it comes equipped with 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and Bentley all-wheel drive system with 40:60 rear-biased torque split.

So you get tons of sure-footed performance, translated into a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h). The convertible version is a little slower, but you get that wind in the hair experience. Both models are able to cover over 500 miles (805 km) on a single tank of fuel.

All is well in the Bentley Continental GT V8 S, until you show it some corners. That is what’s wrong with all versions of the car. Bentley reckons the V8 S is the least horrid in that terms thanks to a sporty setup of the suspension with 10mm lower ride height, stiffened spring rates, bushes and the rear anti-roll bar, and recalibrated damping, steering and ESC.

With the Bentley Continental GT V8 S you get all the luxury amenities you get with the W12 models, plus one brilliant extra, which is the exhilarating soundtrack of that magnificent V8 engine.
