As a sign that the new Porsche 918 Spyder hyper car will soon go on sale, the German car maker launched a dedicated configurator for it on its website. We all knew that the 918 is going to be a million dollar car, but in fact, it starts at $845,000 USD. Bargain!

Do not despair though. Have a look at the options list, and before you know it, the final price has seven digits. Among the options that we absolutely loved we can mention the $32,500 magnesium wheels, $63,000 liquid metal paint job, and $26,000 authentic leather interior package. And do we even need to mention the Weissach package?

The prices are just insane, but you could argue that the Porsche offers better value for money than its rivals, the McLaren aP1 and LaFerrari. They are just incredibly fast cars that are not easy to live with, and are probably very fragile. But you could daily drive the Porsche 918 is you wanted to. It is comfy, well-made, and has every luxury amenity you can think of.

And if you decided to have some fun, all you have to do is flick some switches and put it in race mode, in which all the electric motors join the RS-derived racing V8 engine to give you near as makes no difference 900 horsepower to play with. That said, never get dragged in a top speed run with the Ferrari or the McLaren, because while both those cars can hit 350 km/h, the Porsche just can’t.
