A few days after the beans have been spilled and the new Hyundai Genesis sedan got scooped undisguised, the Korean auto maker releases two official renderings revealing the car in its, almost, full glory. And the first thing that strikes you about the new model is that how grown up it looks compared to the old one.
The current Genesis is not childish, of course, but the proportions of the new model and all those elegant lines make it look so mature. You can clearly see the influence of other Kia/Hyundai family members on the design of the 2014 Genesis, but that’s not a bad thing. All the good features of the Optima and the Cadenza and the Centennial and the Grandeur have boiled down and distilled for use in this car.
2014 Hyundai Genesis does not exactly exude confidence though on Hyundai’s part. We thought they’ve found their corporate look, but with every new model they totally revamped the look. The new Genesis shares almost nothing with the outgoing version. Hyundai, then, is still trying different looks to see what takes.
As for the technicalities, the 2014 Hyundai Genesis will launch with the current engine lineup including the 3.8 liter V6 and the 5.0 liter V8. New is an optional all-wheel-drive system, new electric steering system and suspension, and an advanced traction control system providing different driving modes.
