The new LaFerrari hyper car is still pretty much a secret, as the Italian car maker has not yet allowed a single civilian to get anywhere near it, let alone drive the car. So we are a bit amazed that this video made it to the outside world from deep inside Ferrari’s engine department.

The footage shows LaFerrari V12 engine on dyno machine all on its own, not burdened with the electronic KERS system:

Even without all the electronic systems, the engine manages to produce a whopping 800 horsepower. That is good power, but not enough to win the day these days. So the finished version also gets a KERS system with an electric motor that adds a healthy 160hp, bringing the total to 960 horsepower.

All that remains to be seen now is a head to head race between this, the McLaren P1, and the Porsche 918. That will be the single most important battle in the entire history of automobile.
