Porsche Macan Prototype Scooped in Dubai

While the world is waiting to see the new addition to Porsche’s noble family, the Macan, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the baby Porsche has been spotted on the other side of the planet in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dubai’s geographical properties provide a number of advantages for car makers to kill a couple of birds with one stone. The Gulf state is an ideal place to conduct extreme heat tests – albeit this time of year the weather is quite pleasant down there. What’s more, its desert with large sand dunes and rocky patches provide excellent off-road courses. Last but not least, Dubai’s metropolitan area is home to some of the world’s most horrid traffic jams, which can help with measuring the car’s refinement.

The Macan scooped by Patrick3331 in this video shows pretty much all its body except the lights, which are lightly covered. To be honest with you we were hoping Porsche put some effort into designing this thing, but it looks just like a shrunken version of the Cayenne. Porsche feels they don’t need to bother with fancy styling, as people seem to buy their products regardless of how ugly some of them look like.

Keep an eye out for the Porsche Macan over the next few weeks, as we will be hearing more and more about it in the run up to its world premiere in City of Angels.
